Shadow Ridge is a small farm located in the quiet rolling hills of the Piedmont region of North Carolina. Here we raise affectionate, intelligent, family friendly Miniature Donkeys. We are also a final stop for a few equines that "have seen enough".

Our goal at Shadow Ridge is to introduce you to the world of  miniature donkeys. You will find that  miniature donkeys can be the perfect pet for the whole family. 

Their height averages between 30" and 34" at their withers, and the maximum height allowed for this breed is 36".

They weigh between 200 - 350 lbs.

Their lifespan is 25 - 35+ years, with 47 years being the longest on record for a domestic donkey. 

And the best part is they inherently have a sweet disposition.

We have been breeding and raising Registered Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys since 2003. Each is treated with affection and they respond in kind with their wonderful gentle nature. If you are thinking of a donkey for a pet, please remember that donkeys are herd animals they will become depressed if kept without a companion. You won't be able to "have just one anyway".

Bred for good confirmation and a loving nature, we would be proud to introduce you to our herd.  Presently, our herd is small but more are on the way.  We hope you enjoy our site and feel free to drop us a line with your comments.
